The Nigerian Revenue Service has launched Rev360, a fully integrated digital ecosystem that marks a significant shift toward real-time tax administration in the country. According to the NRS, the platform is designed to embed tax compliance directly into the natural business systems of taxpayers, substantially reducing the administrative burden associated with manual return filing.
Rev360 is not a routine software upgrade. It is a comprehensive digital infrastructure that connects in real time with the Corporate Affairs Commission and the National Identity Management Commission, enabling instant data verification and automated taxpayer profiling at the point of registration. The platform eliminates traditional monthly returns by capturing transaction details as they occur, moving the tax system from periodic reporting to continuous compliance monitoring.
The Executive Chairman of the NRS described the launch as a milestone that reflects the Service's determination to build a tax system that operates seamlessly for every Nigerian. He stated that Rev360 is about creating a future where tax administration serves not as a burden but as an enabler of national development. The platform, he noted, will strengthen trust in public institutions while supporting the growth of the Nigerian economy.
Ahead of the official go-live, the NRS completed a comprehensive nationwide readiness programme aimed at preparing stakeholders across the entire tax ecosystem. This preparatory exercise engaged taxpayers, practitioners and administrators to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
The initial roll-out phase prioritises medium-sized and emerging taxpayers, a segment that the NRS considers well-positioned for early adoption of the new infrastructure. Large corporate taxpayers are scheduled to migrate onto Rev360 in the coming months as the platform stabilises and capacity expands.
Existing taxpayers will not need to re-register their information on Rev360. The NRS has confirmed that all historical data from TaxProMax, the outgoing platform, is being migrated internally. This ensures continuity of taxpayer records and eliminates the risk of data fragmentation during the transition period.
The launch of Rev360 aligns with broader global trends in tax administration, where revenue authorities are increasingly adopting technology-driven approaches to improve compliance, broaden the tax base, and reduce the cost of collection. By integrating with foundational identity and business registries, the platform also addresses long-standing challenges around taxpayer identification and data accuracy that have historically constrained revenue mobilisation efforts in Nigeria.
