Tax TV has published a compiled directory of verified state tax payment websites aimed at helping taxpayers across Nigeria identify legitimate online platforms for remitting their state-level taxes.
The resource lists official web addresses confirmed by the respective state internal revenue services, providing taxpayers with a reliable reference point when making electronic tax payments. The directory is intended to reduce the risk of taxpayers inadvertently using fraudulent or unauthorised websites that may result in lost funds or exposure of sensitive financial information.
The compilation comes amid increasing digitisation of tax collection processes by state revenue authorities. Many states have introduced online payment gateways for taxes such as Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), withholding tax, capital gains tax, and other levies administered at the sub-national level.
Taxpayers are advised to always verify the authenticity of any tax payment portal before submitting personal or financial details. Red flags include URLs that do not end in ".gov.ng", requests for payments into personal accounts, and websites lacking secure HTTPS connections.
The image accompanying the publication displays the list of verified state tax payment websites, which taxpayers can cross-reference when making online remittances.
State internal revenue services have repeatedly cautioned that payments made through unofficial channels may not be credited to a taxpayer's account, potentially leading to demands for additional payments, penalties, and interest for non-compliance.
