The Federation Account Allocation Committee distributed a combined ₦2.338 trillion to the three tiers of government at its September 2026 meeting, following a decline in revenue generated in August.
The September payout was 22.2 percent below the record ₦3.007 trillion shared at the August FAAC meeting, which was based on revenue generated in July. In absolute terms, the month-on-month reduction came to roughly ₦669 billion.
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation announced the latest allocation in a statement issued by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations.
The ₦2.338 trillion was shared among the Federal Government, 36 state governments and 774 local government councils as their respective allocations from revenue generated in August 2026.
The steep decline from the previous month's record distribution highlights how sensitive FAAC allocations are to fluctuations in federally collected revenue. Monthly FAAC disbursements remain a major source of funding for many state and local governments across Nigeria.
